We are a support group serving Atlanta, its suburbs and North Georgia. The primary objective of the group is to offer support and information to individuals with Celiac Disease, Dermatitis Herpetiformis, gluten-related sensitivity or disorders and those exploring a gluten-free lifestyle. The group is also committed to furthering the awareness of celiac disease, gluten-sensitivity and the need for a gluten-free lifestyle. People attending the meetings are typically those dealing with these chronic conditions and/or the gluten-free lifestyle. Family members and friends also attend so they can be more knowledgeable and supportive. Meetings are open to the public.
A local volunteer Board of Directors manages the group. The group and its Board of Directors do not endorse any specific medical treatment and/or gluten-free product.
Our support group is a branch of the national 501(c)(3) non-profit association, Gluten Intolerance Group of North America (GIG). We strongly encourage everyone to sign up for a FREE membership with GIG (www.gluten.org). However, membership in GIG is not a requirement for attending GIG of Atlanta gatherings. Our local website is www.gigofatlanta.com. Click on the “Meetings” tab in the menu bar to see a listing and the details about our upcoming meetings. To get on our list for emails about the meetings and other group activities, click on the “JOIN OUR EMAIL LIST” tab. There is no cost to join.
All of the meetings of the Gluten Intolerance Group of Atlanta are open to the public. There is no charge to attend unless otherwise noted. Meetings are held at various locations in the greater Atlanta area. Members that have joined the GIG of Atlanta email list receive announcements prior to each meeting. The email contains all relevant details, including location.
The group normally meets six times a year on a Saturday in January, March, May, August, September and October. The actual date of the meeting will depend on the availability of a suitable meeting space. For more information about upcoming events, please contact: GIG.Atlanta@gluten.org
