I was diagnosed almost a year ago to the day with CD. I have had dental issues my whole life. Bad teeth, cavities, decay, Gum disease, root canals, implants. Too many issues for my age. My dentist was always like ” you’re not flossing” and I was always like ” NO REALLY ..I’m flossing” last year my gums were so bad he was going to refer me to a specialist for surgery. Well.. today I went in for my semi-annual cleaning and my dentist was astounded. He was like your gums are nothing short of short of “perfect” My dentist was not very schooled on Celiac prior to me 🙂 however I have made sure that he knows all about this disease. He was shocked at my turn around. He has been my dentist for 15 years and is taking an active role to learn more about the disease and wants to help other patients of his who might NOT be diagnosed. He said he is going to add a couple of lines to his intake form to help him see if someone might be an undiagnosed CD patient!!
