Remember the biggest rain storm you’ve ever been in? Maybe it rained for hours. And hours. Maybe your basement flooded. Maybe there was 6 inches of rain. Maybe 8″ or even 10″. Can you even imagine, just imagine what 51.88 inches of rain in less than 4 days looks like? I can’t.
Our Friends, Family and Fellow Human Beings are suffering terribly right now in Texas. Language is being used such as “Catastrophic. Biblical. Apocalyptic.” Apparently this is the most recorded rain EVER in the US. Look at the graph of recorded records in every state of the US.
People need our help. We’re a week into food shortages in Texas right now. Thousands of people are struggling just to get enough food. Imagine you’ve been working on your health for years. Finally found out you’re gluten sensitive and you feel so much better without. Or avoiding sugar. Or any other food that you or your family functions better without. Now imagine what the people of Texas are doing for food right now. You want to feed your child whatever is available to keep them going-anything is better than nothing. Now imagine what the humanitarian efforts are right now. Hopefully adequate so no one starves, every day for weeks to come. Now, given what you now know about how food can impact on you, it’s pretty hard not to be grateful for a ham sandwich on white bread for your daughter when there’s nothing else available. Get my drift here?
We all can help a little bit. I’m going to invite you to help me get gluten-free food to these people in need. My good friend Dr. Ruan Cheng, has a General Family Practice in Houston. This last week he has had his clinic Certified as an Emergency Distribution Center. Can we help him distribute gluten-free food to his patients? Please go to one of two of our friends in the food business (Thrive Market or Vital Choice Seafoods).
Vital Choice Seafoods has already jumped into action knowing that our Tribe would open their hearts and respond.
Here is the pallet (6144 cans) of easy-to-access high-quality canned salmon going out today. Please acknowledge their effort – Place an order from Vital Choice for whatever you’ve been thinking of ordering. In the Delivery Section part of the order form, just say something like “Thanks Vital Choice for your Texas support”. This will let them know you read our email and it will validate that a business that practices Acts of Kindness does not go unnoticed.
Our friends at Thrive Market have 2 ways set up that you can help. First, they are diverting all donations at checkout for the month of September to hurricane relief. And my 3 friends who own the company will match those donations dollar for dollar, without limit. The response thus far has been overwhelmingly positive, and Thrive is seeing 3x the normal daily donation totals. They hope to raise $150k for direct aid through checkout. So place an order at Thrive for what you’ve been meaning to get around to trying or what you need to stock up on, and add a donation for $20, $25,… at Checkout and know that those dollars are going to be doubled and are going directly to people in need.
And here’s what else the compassionate Tribe at Thrive is doing.
We have our first truck of clean water, healthy food staples and natural diapers arriving at the Houston Food Bank tomorrow afternoon. We’re then launching a secondary donation mechanism through CrowdRise to allow people to donate without making a purchase, our goal is to raise another $100k+ there, also for direct-aid to address immediate needs communicated to us by partners like the Houston Food Bank, Feeding America, Points of Light and others.
So please give a little everyone. Order some fish for your family from Vital Choice and say “thanks”, or some GF products for your home from Thrive Market, make a donation in the checkout box, and know that by a stroke of blessing, you can directly help those who are in need.
I fervently believe that when we live our lives out of ‘Paying It Forward’, Blessings would come back to us in ways we would never expect.
